Use Solvent-Free HydroSeal 75 In Tight Areas And Avoid Breathing and Smelling Harmful Solvents

When it comes to choosing a product or coating for sealing waterproofing below grade areas like basements, bulkheads, crawlspaces, elevator pits, concrete tanks and manholes to name a few applications where Hydro-seal 75 is used, VOC content and solvent release is a huge factor.

Specifically, workers applying the materials will be breathing these fumes or require special respirators or breathing apparatus so as to not be overcome by these solvents. Hydro-Seal 75 complies with U.S. Building Council (USGBC) LEED for New Construction and Renovation Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 4.2 Low-Emitting Materials Paints & Coatings criteria. The intent of the credit is to "reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants."
In residential basement applications homeowners will have to deal with these fumes escaping into living areas upstairs or adjacent to working areas. Odorless Hydro-Seal 75 is not a problem. Tight quarters like elevator pits, manholes and crawl spaces require a material with no VOC's or solvents. So pay attention to VOC & solvent content when choosing a waterproof coating. You can never go wrong with Hydro-seal 75 water based epoxy for all these areas.

Especially in the residential applications, homeowners who apply Hydro-Seal 75 in a do it yourself application always comment on lack of smell or fumes, and ease of application with paint rollers.

Another factor when examining VOC content is emission of solvents into the atmosphere and greenhouse gas reduction. Certainly a material emitting no solvents is better for the earth and a greener product than one that barely meets VOC limits for coatings.
